the gardens

1. All Decked Out ~ Chuck & Joyce Ramsey - 224 W. Taylor St.

A shady deck provides a beautiful backdrop for container gardening and entertaining. Charlie and Joyce are members of our local Thorns and Roses garden club.
2. Front Porch Appeal ~ Ruthanna Tobey - 216 W. Taylor St.
This long time resident has preserved her home in show place condition. Her front porch is reminiscent of days gone by in small village life. Take time to investigate the fine display by New Leaf Lawn and Garden of Kenton across the street.
3. A Cottage Garden ~ Jim & Peggy Harrison - 108 N. High St.
This garden features perennials, herbs, everlastings, annuals and aromatic plants with unique containers and fixtures throughout. Jim will answer questions about the goldfish pond which he developed. Peggy will have a large selection of hypertufa containers and decorations in the Potting Shed.
Their shop, Tea for Three Antiques will be open for browsing where you may find additional items to decorate your porch, cottage or garden.

4. Divine Intervention Methodist Church Garden ~ Mark Sutherin - Main St.
The cornerstone for the Mount Victory United Methodist Church was laid on May 3, 1903. Mark Sutherin, church member and Arett Sales representative ( large garden wholesale company), laid out the newest garden on the tour. Mark will be at this location to greet you and offer hors d’oeuvres. Enjoy this garden that was the idea of Pastor Jay Mac Guisinger. Many people have worked hard to create this beautiful spot.
5. A Whistlestop ~ Carl and Sandy Deckler - Henry Martin Memorial Park - Main & Taylor St.
Carl and Sandy Deckler of Vintage Sandy’s will greet you at Henry Martin Memorial Park. This park is planted and cared for by volunteers. The lot was left vacant when Henry Martin’s three story cinderblock building burned to the ground in 1993. The park was purchased and the mural painted with funds from the Mount Victory Community Development Association. We hope you will enjoy sitting here for a spell while the Plaza Inn offers you their delicious sandwiches. 3000 cars and 1000 trucks pass through Mount Victory each day and you can see them all from the gazebo styled in the manner of the old depot. Vintage Sandy’s is open for your shopping enjoyment.
6. Victorian Garden of Angels ~ Emma Jordan - 205 E. Taylor St
This is a good example of an uncommonly seen garden style called “in between”, meaning the main garden area is situated between the street and the front entrance of the home. Filled with plantings and serene statuary this garden will also feature live guitar music. The 1860 Italianate was named “Park Place” when it was built. Emma Jordan purchased the property in 1997 and has done extensive restoration including installation of vintage iron fence, designing and planting the gardens. She lives in the spacious upper story. The lower level is devoted to her unique business, where she specializes in vintage picture frames, matting and framing and offers other antiques for sale.
6. Rustic Tranquility ~ Don and Linda Houchin - 305 E. Taylor St.
You are invited to wander around this old restored homestead. Many authentic garden items, especially sewer tile tree stump planters are tucked among the widely varied plantings. The garden had a meager beginning in 1986 and has been evolving ever since. Scheiderer Farms Nursery of Marysville will be here displaying garden delights. Shamrock Vineyards will offer fine wine to taste. You will find “something sweet” here to end your evening compliments of the Plaza Inn.
